On 11 February LAS UNISON launched a redesigned home page. The structure is simpler with clearer lines between differing boxes. The ambulance news stories have been expanded and the Twitter feed has been merged with the main UNISON feed and moved to the top of the page.
We also introduced a scrolling carousel display at the top of the page. Unfortunately we have been made aware shortly after going live that this display unit is failing to show up on LAS service computers. We are working on a work around for this but in the meantime please advise if this is causing any significant problems. If you view the site from any non service PC it should render correctly.
TUC Aid is making an appeal to affiliates, union members and to the general public for funds for emergency relief and long-term rehabilitation of the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
‘UNISON understands the concerns and worries of members regarding Foundation Trust Status. Our opposition to Foundation Trust Status is on record. We replied to the consultation paper within the LAS again stating our concerns but also insisting that Unison and its members are central to the decision making should Foundation Trust Status be granted.
LAS UNISON has put together an exhibition (with very special thanks to Anna Lowman, Communications Department, and Sarah Joy, Finance & Business Planning Department and others who have gave their time so this could happen) to remember the 89/90 Ambulance Dispute. This can be seen on each floor of Waterloo HQ until the end of January 2010.
Dave Prentis, General Secretary of UNISON, the UK’s largest public sector union, today reacted angrily to the 1%, two year pay cap and pensions cap on public sector workers, announced in the pre-budget report,
“A victory for NHS patients” is how UNISON described today’s decision by the High Court, to uphold the limit on the amount of income Foundation Trusts can get from treating private patients.
